(@hereticsdream) We have already talked yesterday about Italian/UK Gothic Progressive Metal band Heretic’s Dreamwith their “The Unexpected Move” debut album. Now, after some line up changes, the band is back with a single that according to Tony might be “the ground work for what could become a successful second album”. In fact we can perceive an improvement throughout their sound and as Tony states [“Chains of Bloods”] “represents a progression in the right direction”

While we wait the “Rushing Through The Sky” EP’s review, I offer you the review of the debut SINGLE “Your Mind” by Schoolcraft, the solo project of the singer/instrumentalist (and now Cradle of Filth touring member too) Lindz Riot, that also she’s the singer of the Canadian gothic rock band Mary and the Black Lamb. Although this single contains only 2 songs, Lindz, with her vocals and skills, was able to positively impress our reviewer Luisa : “If this is just an appetizer of the album that will come, I will be really glad to listen to it! These two tracks sound really promising and diverse, so I am eager to listen to what she can do on her own!”.

Moving back to Ukraine (again) with something more canonical here I introduce you the review of the independent releases of Onatra with the EP “For your Soul” and the SINGLE “Lies”. What Onatra offers is a simple but well-played Symphonic Metal. Vard has got his reason when says that “Onatra is really a troublesome child” ‘cause for what I know all the members except the founder Marta Medler have left the band. On a last note, both the EP and the single are avalaible for FREE DOWNLOAD in the official site. (via Onatra – “For Your Soul” EP & “Lies” SINGLE (2012) « Femme Metal Webzine)

Independent Release

Review by Luisa Mercier

After two full-lengths and several single releases, Sleepthief is back with a new, beautiful official single, accompanied by a stunning video. For all of you, that still are not familiar with his music, Sleepthief is the project behind which hides the American producer Justin Elswick. His music is a soulful blending of electronica, Celtic influences, synth-pop, ambient and classical music. The new single features once again the distinctive vocals of Jody Quine (known for her work with Balligomingo) over an emotional layered track that will leave you speechless. The song is inspired by the wish that all of us has experienced in life: the yearning to find someone who could love us and understands us, but not always is meant to happen. So, it is quite bittersweet, melancholic, sad, though soaring and uplifting also thank you to Jody Quine amazing work on backing vocals. I think they add a lot more to the whole atmosphere. Music, as usual, is thoroughly crafted, with lots of layers starting from electronica to strings and piano. What makes Sleepthief music stands out in my opinion is his ability in expressing feelings and conveying it to his audience. It is not by chance that all of us are always so moved by his songs. I warmly invite you to give this song a try and, if you like it, to the rest of his discography too. The single is out 11th June along with three remixes by Justin and his collaborator Israel Curtis (Psychosomatic Mix), Blue Stone and DjMikel.

Australia’s Gothic Metal duo Temujin released their debut effort “1000 Tears” in 2008. Now, three years later they have returned with a brand-new single. The song is called “Demons” and coming off the positive impression that their debut left on me, I couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into this one. “Demons” is the lone track on the single, but it is a pretty good track with haunting vocals performed by Kelly and a simply infectious melody that dominates the four minute song. It is difficult to tell where a band is headed musically based on one song, but if “Demons” is indicative of where Temujin are headed than fans of their debut will not be disappointed.

Sad Alice Said began in 2005 as an all female outfit called Alice In Wonderland. Since changing the name, the band has undergone some line-up changes and not features a multi-gender line-up. Sad Alice Said recently signed to BlueFreya Music has just issued their debut single for the song “Open Your Eyes”. “Open Your Eyes” begins with some nice piano before transforming into a melodic, Symphonic Metal piece and a song that is not easy to forget once you’ve heard it. The track is 4-minutes long and lead vocalist Alisa Shakor provides an outstanding vocal range throughout, and the usage of violins helps to give it a melancholic vibe. I know it’s only one song, but “Open Your Eyes” has me more than a little interested in what Sad Alice Said has in store on their future recordings.
